Dr Dominic Selwood, FRHistS, LLB (Hons), DEA, DPhil, is General Counsel of Global Commodity Finance Ltd. He began his career as a Common Law barrister in chambers for five years at 2 King's Walk in the Inner Temple, London, before moving to Allen & Overy LLP. In 2002, he started a globally successful Islamic Finance business-line at Deutsche Bank AG, before becoming General Counsel of the BMB Group of companies. Since 2008, he has been General Counsel of Dubai-based Global Commodity Finance Ltd, a diversified Islamic commodity business and subsidiary of DIFC Investments. He has published numerous articles and a book on medieval Christian/Islamic relations. He holds a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in law, French, and history from the universities of Oxford, Wales, Poitiers, and the Sorbonne.
